A Dream Come True: Lady Survivors at London Swim Week 2026
From a personal journey through breast cancer to the runway at London Swim Week — a moment I will never forget.
Some moments in life remind you just how far you have come, and for me, being part of London Swim Week 2026 was one of those moments.
When I founded Lady Survivors Mastectomy Swimwear, I had a dream. A dream to create beautiful, fashionable and affordable swimwear for women who have experienced breast cancer and mastectomy surgery. I wanted women to feel confident, feminine and included in fashion, without having to compromise on style because of what they had been through.
But beyond creating a swimwear brand, I had another dream: to see Lady Survivors on the runway at London Swim Week.
On 13 June 2026, that dream became a reality.
From Breast Cancer to Building a Dream
My journey into this world began long before Lady Survivors existed.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 39 years old. At the time, my children were only four and eight. Like so many women, my diagnosis turned my world upside down. I underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and multiple reconstructive surgeries.
My experience changed my relationship with my body and my confidence in ways I could never have imagined.
I became increasingly aware of how difficult it could be to find swimwear that looked beautiful, felt comfortable and accommodated the physical changes that come with mastectomy surgery. So much of the swimwear available felt clinical, expensive or lacked the fashionable designs I wanted to wear.
I knew there had to be another way.
I wanted to create swimwear that celebrated women rather than reminded them of what they had lost. Pieces that were stylish, thoughtfully designed and accessible, allowing women to enjoy the beach, holidays and swimming without feeling that their bodies excluded them from fashion.
And so, Lady Survivors Mastectomy Swimwear was born.
What began as a deeply personal experience became a mission to help other women feel seen, supported and confident in their own skin.
The Dream of London Swim Week
Getting Lady Survivors onto the runway was never just about showcasing a collection of swimwear.
For me, it represented something much bigger.
It was about bringing visibility to women who have undergone mastectomy surgery and challenging the idea that fashion is only for certain bodies.
Women who have experienced breast cancer deserve to feel beautiful, confident and included. We deserve swimwear that makes us feel good, designs that reflect our personalities and the freedom to wear what we love.
I wanted Lady Survivors to stand alongside other swimwear brands and demonstrate that mastectomy swimwear can be fashionable, modern and exciting.
I wanted people to see our designs and recognise that women affected by breast cancer should never have to choose between functionality and style.
Reaching London Swim Week was a huge milestone for my little business, and one that carried so much emotion because I knew exactly what it had taken to get there.
Behind every design, every decision and every step forward was a personal story, a determination to make a difference and a belief that Lady Survivors could become something truly special.
A Runway With a Much Bigger Purpose
Being part of London Swim Week 2026 was an incredible experience.
Seeing Lady Survivors represented on such a platform was a moment of immense pride. To watch something that had started as an idea, born from my own experiences of breast cancer, become part of a fashion event was genuinely special.
It was a reminder that even after the most difficult chapters of our lives, we can still dream, create and build something meaningful.
But what made the experience so important to me was the message behind the swimwear.
Lady Survivors is not simply a swimwear brand. It is a brand built around a community of women who understand that life after breast cancer can bring unexpected challenges, both physically and emotionally.
It is about recognising the changes our bodies go through and making space for confidence, femininity, individuality and self-expression.
It is about helping women feel that they can still wear beautiful swimwear, enjoy their holidays and feel comfortable showing up as themselves.
And it is about reminding every woman who has been through breast cancer that she is still every bit as deserving of feeling good about herself.
Our bodies may change after breast cancer, but our dreams, our individuality and our sense of who we are do not have to disappear.
That is the message I wanted Lady Survivors to bring to London Swim Week.
More Than a Swimwear Brand
From the beginning, I have wanted Lady Survivors to be about more than the products we sell.
Yes, I want to create beautiful swimwear that offers practical features such as built-in support, removable padding and pockets for breast prostheses. I want our designs to be affordable, comfortable and made with the needs of women after mastectomy in mind.
But I also want women to know that they are not alone.
Breast cancer can affect so many aspects of life, including body image, confidence, relationships and how we see ourselves. Sometimes, something as seemingly simple as finding a swimsuit can bring those feelings to the surface.
I want Lady Survivors to help make that experience a little easier.
I want women to visit our website and see swimwear that excites them. I want them to feel that someone understands their needs without making them feel defined by their diagnosis.
Most importantly, I want them to know that they belong in fashion, on the beach, by the pool and everywhere else they choose to be.
Being part of London Swim Week was another step towards sharing that message with a wider audience.
A Moment to Be Proud Of
Building a business is rarely straightforward, particularly when it is something so closely connected to your own personal experiences.
There have been challenges, moments of uncertainty and plenty of learning along the way. But there has also been a growing sense of purpose and a determination to keep going, even when things have felt difficult.
Standing behind the Lady Survivors name and seeing the brand reach a platform like London Swim Week reminded me why I started.
I thought about the woman I was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39. I thought about everything that followed, the changes I experienced and the journey to finding my confidence again.
And I thought about all the women who might one day discover Lady Survivors and find something that helps them feel a little more comfortable, confident and themselves.
That is what makes this journey so meaningful.
London Swim Week was not simply a tick on a business to-do list. It was a personal milestone and a moment that represented how far I had come.
It was proof that something positive can grow from an incredibly difficult experience.
What Comes Next for Lady Survivors?
Although reaching London Swim Week was a dream come true, it is only one part of the bigger vision I have for Lady Survivors.
I want to continue growing the brand, reaching more women and expanding the choices available to those affected by breast cancer.
I want to help make fashionable, affordable mastectomy swimwear more visible and accessible, while continuing to listen to the women whose needs and experiences inspire everything we do.
And I want Lady Survivors to remain connected to the breast cancer community, because this has never been just about selling swimwear. It has always been about the women behind it.
Every new opportunity brings us closer to that vision, and London Swim Week has given me even more motivation to keep moving forward.
To Every Woman Who Has Been Part of This Journey — Thank You
To everyone who has supported Lady Survivors, encouraged me, believed in the vision and helped me along the way, thank you.
Small businesses are built on passion, perseverance and the support of others, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.
Most of all, I hope that Lady Survivors continues to inspire women who have experienced breast cancer to embrace their bodies, rediscover their confidence and feel excited about what lies ahead.
If my own journey has taught me anything, it is that life can take you in directions you never expected. Sometimes, the most meaningful things grow from the experiences you would never have chosen.
I could never have imagined that my breast cancer diagnosis would eventually lead me to create a mastectomy swimwear brand and see it represented at London Swim Week.
But here we are.
A dream that started with a personal need has become a brand with a purpose — and this is only the beginning.
With love,
