Rise and Revive: Our Fourth Warrior Weekend – Finding Strength, Connection and Life Beyond Breast Cancer
Because sometimes, the most powerful part of healing is finding people who truly understand your journey.
Breast cancer changes so much more than your physical health. It can change the way you see yourself, your confidence, your relationships and the way you navigate the world. While treatment may eventually come to an end, the emotional journey often continues long after the hospital appointments stop.
It is one of the reasons why we created Rise and Revive After Breast Cancer CIC – to give women a place where they can come together, feel understood and discover that they don't have to navigate life after breast cancer alone.
In October 2026, we held our fourth Warrior Weekend retreat, bringing together an incredible group of women for a weekend filled with laughter, friendship, adventure, relaxation and meaningful connection.
And once again, it reminded us exactly why Rise and Revive exists.
The Story Behind Rise and Revive After Breast Cancer CIC
Rise and Revive was created by four women who understand first-hand the impact that breast cancer can have on every aspect of life.
We know that surviving breast cancer is about so much more than getting through treatment. It is about learning to live in a body that may feel different, rebuilding confidence, navigating changes to our physical and emotional wellbeing, and finding our feet again when life doesn't quite look the way it once did.
We also understand how isolating this experience can feel.
Sometimes, the people around us want to help but simply cannot understand what we are going through. There can be an unspoken expectation to return to normal once treatment finishes, even when we are still processing everything that has happened.
We wanted to create something different.
Rise and Revive was born from a simple but powerful belief: no woman should have to feel alone on her journey after breast cancer.
Our mission is to create safe, welcoming spaces where women can come together without judgement or expectations. Places where they can talk openly, share experiences, laugh, cry, make friendships and simply be themselves.
We want women to know that they are more than their diagnosis, more than their scars and more than what they have been through.
They are women with dreams, hopes, fears, ambitions and so much life still to live.
And they deserve the opportunity to rediscover that.
Our Fourth Warrior Weekend: A Weekend to Remember
Our fourth Warrior Weekend took place in the beautiful surroundings of Derbyshire, providing the perfect setting for women to step away from everyday life and spend time focusing on themselves.
For a little while, there were no hospital appointments to think about, no everyday responsibilities to juggle and no pressure to be anything other than who they are.
Instead, there was fresh air, beautiful surroundings, new experiences, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, a group of women who understood one another.
The weekend was about reconnecting with ourselves, building confidence, trying new things and creating memories together.
From paddleboarding on the water to peaceful yoga sessions and calming breathwork, every activity offered an opportunity to explore something different, whether that meant challenging ourselves physically, finding a moment of calm or simply enjoying being present.
But some of the most meaningful moments happened in between the activities.
They happened over a cup of tea, during a walk, around the table at mealtimes and in those conversations that begin casually but somehow become much deeper.
They happened when one woman shared something she had been struggling with and another quietly replied, "I understand."
That feeling of being understood is incredibly powerful.
Finding Confidence Through New Experiences
One of the highlights of our Warrior Weekend was paddleboarding.
For some women, it was an opportunity to try something completely new. For others, it was about pushing themselves outside their comfort zone and discovering what they were capable of.
After breast cancer treatment and surgery, it can sometimes be difficult to reconnect with your body. Scars, changes in appearance, reduced confidence and the physical effects of treatment can all influence how we feel about ourselves.
Trying something new, being outdoors and sharing the experience with other women can be a wonderful reminder that our bodies are still capable of incredible things.
It isn't about being the best or getting everything right.
It's about giving ourselves permission to try, to laugh when things don't go to plan and to celebrate the little victories along the way.
Sometimes, confidence begins with something as simple as saying yes to an experience we might once have avoided.
Yoga and Breathwork: Making Space to Breathe
Alongside the adventure, we also made time for stillness.
Our yoga and breathwork sessions gave everyone the opportunity to slow down, reconnect with themselves and enjoy a little breathing space away from the demands of everyday life.
Life after breast cancer can bring a whole range of emotions. There may be relief, gratitude, anxiety, uncertainty or feelings that are difficult to put into words.
There is no single way to feel, and there is no timetable for working through those emotions.
Creating time for ourselves can help us recognise what we need, listen to our bodies and give ourselves permission to rest.
The sessions were a gentle reminder that looking after ourselves isn't selfish. Our emotional and physical wellbeing matter, too.
Sometimes, we spend so much time being strong for everyone else that we forget we deserve care and support ourselves.
At Rise and Revive, we want women to know that they don't always have to be the strong one.
Sometimes, it's enough just to breathe.
The Power of Connection: Women Who Understand
Although the activities were wonderful, the heart of our Warrior Weekend was always going to be the women themselves.
There is something truly special about bringing together people who have experienced something that can be difficult to explain to others.
Conversations can happen naturally. There is space to talk about the difficult days, the unexpected challenges and the changes that breast cancer brings. There is also space to celebrate life, share hopes for the future and laugh until your stomach hurts.
Nobody needs to explain every detail of their journey to be understood.
Nobody needs to pretend they are fine when they aren't.
And nobody needs to feel that they are the only one experiencing complicated emotions.
Friendships begin, connections deepen and women who may have arrived as strangers leave feeling part of something bigger.
These are the moments that stay with us long after the weekend ends.
Because while breast cancer may be part of our stories, it doesn't have to define the rest of them.
We can create new memories, discover new passions, build meaningful friendships and find joy in unexpected places.
We may have come together because of breast cancer, but we leave with so much more than a shared diagnosis. We leave with connection, understanding and friendships that can continue long after the weekend is over.
Why Warrior Weekends Matter
When we created Rise and Revive, we wanted to do more than organise a weekend away.
We wanted to create an experience that women could carry with them long after they returned home.
A reminder that they are not alone.
A reminder that their feelings matter.
A reminder that they are allowed to prioritise themselves, try new things and discover who they are beyond their diagnosis.
Our previous Warrior Weekends have shown us just how valuable these opportunities for connection can be. Each retreat brings its own special moments, but the same feeling remains: there is real comfort in being surrounded by people who understand.
We also believe that opportunities like these should be accessible to women who might not otherwise be able to afford them. Breast cancer can have a significant financial impact, and we don't want the cost of a retreat to be the reason someone misses out on the opportunity to feel supported and connected.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), our aim is to continue creating opportunities for women affected by breast cancer to come together, improve their wellbeing and build lasting friendships.
We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far, but we know there is still so much more we want to do.
Our hope is to reach more women, create more Warrior Weekends and build a community where nobody feels they have to face life after breast cancer alone.
From My Own Journey to Helping Other Women
For me, this mission is deeply personal.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer at just 39, while my children were only four and eight, I know how much a diagnosis can turn your world upside down.
The journey through surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and reconstruction changes you in ways that are not always visible to the outside world.
It can affect your confidence, your relationship with your body and your sense of identity. It can leave you trying to find your way back to yourself while also navigating a life that may look very different from the one you knew before.
My experiences have shaped both my business, Lady Survivors Mastectomy Swimwear, and my commitment to supporting other women through Rise and Revive.
Through Lady Survivors, I want women to feel included, feminine and confident in swimwear after mastectomy. Through Rise and Revive, I want women to experience the comfort of belonging to a community where they can be themselves without explanation.
Although they are different in their approach, both have the same heart: helping women feel seen, valued and supported after breast cancer.
Because we are not defined by what we have lost or what we have been through.
We are still here. We are still growing. We are still discovering new things about ourselves.
And we deserve to feel good about the lives we are building.
Looking Ahead: Our Mission Continues
As we reflect on our fourth Warrior Weekend, we feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Gratitude for every woman who trusted us enough to join us.
Gratitude for the conversations, the laughter, the courage to try something new and the friendships that were formed.
And gratitude for the reminder that, even after some of life's most difficult experiences, there is still so much joy, connection and possibility ahead.
To every woman who has attended one of our Warrior Weekends, thank you for being part of our story. You are the reason we continue to do what we do.
To the women who are reading this and wondering whether a retreat like this might be for them, we want you to know that you don't have to be at a particular stage of recovery, have everything figured out or feel confident before you join us.
You simply have to be you.
Whether you are navigating life after treatment, adjusting to changes in your body, struggling with confidence or simply longing to spend time with women who understand, there is a place for you in our community.
Our journey with breast cancer may be something we never would have chosen, but the connections we make along the way can become something truly beautiful.
At Rise and Revive, we are building a community rooted in compassion, understanding, friendship and hope.
A community where women can come together, support one another and rediscover the possibilities that lie ahead.
Because surviving breast cancer is one part of the story. Learning to live, laugh, connect and thrive again is another.
And no woman should have to write that next chapter alone.
